RE: 2007 Annual Report for All Seasons Church of Canada

DATE: Friday, May 30, 2008

I thank God for the continuing opportunity to fulfill the mandate of Christ’s Great Commission, to go into the world to all people and my own spiritual journey and faith continues to deepen and be enriched by my ministry through All Seasons Church Of Canada.

Ministry Statement

  • All Seasons Church of Canada has allowed me to reach out with Pastoral Care to many, many individuals and couples who have become disillusioned with organized religion. It has been a privilege, not only to be of pastoral service, but also to be connected to a network of individuals who have seen the need for an alternative religious worship services.

  • It has been a blessing to serve and help people in their faith journey, who would not have come to a traditional church denominational setting.

  • I arise each day heartened, humbled and thankful that God has led me on this path and heres one reason why.

'Five years ago, I married a couple at a local inn. Last
week, the bride, now a mother with 2 children, called and left me a message
that her father had recently died of cancer, and asked if I could perform
the graveside ceremony for the family.

Calling her back, she said that both she and her husband had felt a
connection with me during the wedding ceremony five years ago, and based on that, she could
think of no one else they would rather have address the family's concerns
    during their time of loss.

I hasten to point out that aside from a congratulatory email send to the
couple subsequent to the wedding I have had absolutely NO contact with the family. None.

Meeting with the family for an hour and a half regarding the funeral service, they also asked me to arrange and lead a planned memorial service a month afterthe internment of ashes, and the day after that family meeting, received an email from the brother of the bride, saying, "Dear Tim, it was great to see
you Monday, and I'm very happy that you will be with our family again for my
father's burial ..." The bride then sent this, "We are so glad that you will
be there with us on Saturday, and also for the memorial service on November
    2nd ..."

This is my point ... we sometime only meet a couple for an hour or so during the
pre-ceremony get-together, and are only with them for 1/2 an hour or so
during the wedding itself, when they're psychologically "deer in headlights"
and don't seem to notice much in the excitement of the day. We walk out of
the ceremony and say something to ourselves like, "Nice couple. Hope they do
well" then turn our minds to other things.

However, for this family to remember how they felt about how they were
treated for a mere 30 minutes 5 years ago on their wedding day, especially
when suffering a life altering blow like the loss of a father, in
retrospect impacts us as Pastors and can remind us that weddings are an important minister of outreach.

The following is a summary of my ministry with All Seasons Church of Canada during 2007.

Worship Meetings

  • Led Worship services every Sunday, and a number of days during the week within the pastoral area for people who are not members of a traditional congregation, for people who chose not to attend formal church services, and for those on shift work; plus preparation time of reading, study, research and writing.

Sacraments

  • Conducted over 50 funerals within Pastoral Area upon recommendation by local Funeral Directors for those who were not members of an established congregation, including time spent meeting with the families in the days before the service, assisting with the Order of Service, presenting the Remembrance Service, and offering grief counseling in the days and weeks following Internment.

  • Performed 10 infant Baptism/Christening services for those choosing a more personal setting, both in a denominational and non-denominational spirit.

  • Officiated at approximately 53 weddings. In addition to members of my own ministry some were referred to me by other pastors, friends , event companies etc

Pastoral Care

  • Made weekly rounds of hospital visitation in 3 Mississauga area hospitals

  • Weekly visiting and worship opportunities with seniors/shut-ins in the pastoral charge on a regular basis, and provided liaison with social services and other services within the region of Peel.

  • Also did some home visitations and telephone ministry.

  • With the elderly and infirm, in these opportunities celebrated the ministry of the scriptures, prayer and the sacrament of Holly Communion weekly.

Policeand Fire department Chaplaincy.

  • Regularly meetings to speak with police and fire dept. members who although not religious, are non-denominationally spiritual in their approach, for non-judgmental fellowship and emotional stress support.
